Welcome to something different for me! Not quite sure where this will go...but we will find out! Damm the torpedos...full speed ahead!

The End of Hell Week & Ivan is Loose

The end is near! Actually it is over! The staff of Huntsville Marine in the space of 72 hours processed and placed some 80 plus boats in the water for a great weekend of boating.

The picture to the left is Ivan's new 202 Crestliner Tournament with a 250 mercury Optimax. We have lettered up his truck as well. Very nice fishing rig!

An incredible week problably one of the busiest in 24 years in this business. I am definitely getting older and I am feeling the wear and tear of this weekend. The weather is hot...in fact too hot for me! It is 34 dewgrees here right now...it feels like July. The water level in Fairy lake is still slightly high which is a good think. Starting to talk with some people mostly north of here with water problems. Up in the Timmins area and north of Sudbury lake levels are down up to 6 feet.

I am just too tired and hot right now for writing...I will do some more a little later.

Welcome to Hell Week!

Welcome to Hell Week! This is the busiest week of the year in the Ontario marine calandar. The phone is ringing off the hook with boaters trying to make their arrangements for the official start of the boating season. The gentleman is picking up his Crestliner ready for a summer of fun and adventure. The fish don't have a chance! The picture on the right is Chris doing predelivery work on a 180RX Stingray for the weekend.

Just a few minutes latter the Crestliner truck arrived with a load of sold Crestliner fishing boats including Ivan's new 202 Tournamnent. Just before the Crestliner's arrived the Four Winns truck was here too. You can see by the loading that a forklift or crane is required along with considerable manpower to unload.

Absolute beautiful day here today hitting 25 degrees. No if you have not taken the time to book your boat out of storage...you cannot have it this weekend. We are completely booked!

Habs lost the first game against Philly. Good I am not a Habs fan!

Paul our service tech with the new 1700 Fish Hawk went fighing for the first time is his new boat and was rewarded with 8 Pike. Not a bad haul and being the true conservationist..return all safely to the lake.

My new 1650 Fish Hawk demo arrived today...we will see if i actually get time to use it!

The gentleman who was running Fairy Lake in the preformance boat with the thru hull exhaust is not makeing friends. Huntsville Marine did not sell or has not serviced this boat. One of the lake front cottage owners is really pissed and is contacting the OPP. Respect for others on the water and near the shoreline should be important to all boaters. Too reduce my phone calls from unhappy boaters and cottagers could all boater please try the following:

Small bodies of water are noise restricted when inside of 1/2 mile of shore...turn down the exhaust.

Wakeboarders do not need to be 200 feet off shore with a 3 to 5 foot wake. Hard on everyones
shorline, docks and moored boats.

Don't throw garbage of any type into the water.

Obey all posted speed limits.

Seadoo people stay away from others wakes and their boat as it is not safe to jump wakes at or near a moving vessel. If you are driving a Seadoo invest in googles so you can actually see where you are going.

Have fun...be boat wise and respect all others!

Full Speed Ahead The Boating Season Starts Now

Just one week to go till the official kickoff for the summer boating season also know as the 24 weekend. This week and next week will just be blurr for every sizable marine operation in Ontario. Just too much to do and not enough time. Weather plays a very important part in the process as the majority of what the service staff needs to do is done outside. Any rain this week will hinder our efforts getting some 65 plus units out of st0rage next week plus delivery of 20 new Four Winns, Stingrays, Monterey and Crestliner Boats as well as new mercury Outboards. I also forgot we need to delivery some new trailers as well.

Monday next week we start off the week with a bang with a load of new Four Winns coming down the driveway. A full load of seven sold Four Winns. On Tuesday a full load of sold Crestliner fishing boats is do here and has to be unloaded. One of our missions this week is to get each and every one of these units through the service shop and ready for the weekend.

Ivan our sponsored Profisherman with his partner Stu their new Crestliner 202 Tournament boat with a 275 optimax will be on the tuesday load and Ivan is scheduled into a tournament this weekend. There is ton of work required to get his unit ready to complete this coming weekend with some 180 teams.

The weather report for the long weekend looks promising. We will have the boats ready, the lake is ready and the bugs are ready to go. Actually so ar very light spring so far for both mosquitos and blackflies.

Habs beat the Penguins! I have to admit I am not a Habs fan! Bruins lost in seven after being up 3 to 0...whats up with that.

Winters Last Stand!

Today I thought I would add an early season of our Pro Fishing team Ivan and Stu in a Pickeral tournament on Saginaw Bay. As you can tell they are not in the Huntsville Marine new Crestliner 202 Tournament boat. They are using Stu's Triton which is unfortunately too small for the fishing conditions at this tournament. the team had to stay close to shore and fish in the river as the wave conditions were brutal. Still managed to place in the top 15. New boat is here for the next event on the weekend of the 22nd.
Today at the marina winter has returned for one more stint of cold damp weather. At my house last night we had 1/2 inch of pea sized hail and very high winds especially around 6:00am. I checked my gardens at home this morning before heading in as I had planted a number of annuals. They were okay but the flowers did take a bit of a hit. Tonight Huntsville may have a low as bad as -7 and snow! Those of you who have sterndrives in this area should take precautions to protect them unless they are in the water where most likely they will be okay. The weather this week in general has been more spring normal for Huntsville. Lots of storage boats this week as we approach the May long weekend. Lots of sales inquiries for new boats especially Stingay, Four Winns and Crestliner.
How about those Steelers. The gang that could not shoot straight managed to stay out the news for the most part and were very glad to see LT formerly of the Giants take center stage. Big Ben #7 has made the cover of Sport's Illustrated and not for sports excellence. I have not seen it yet...I am sure there will be lots of dirt thrown....apparently lots of good material to use. Blue Jays rule once again...break up the team...leading in homers and last in singles on the Cito farwell tour.
As I mentioned before ordered new boats are out as long as July right now!
We managed to finish section "C" this week including planting some Emerald Cedars. Quite a different look for us and a great improvement on parking.
Those who have not booked our their boats and are looking for it for the long weekend are about to not get it as we are essentially close to fully booked.
this weeks G8 update brought to you by the CBC. They like calling me...they like talking to characters...their words. Is this a good thing for me? We have mixed information on road access to the marina during the G8. Fairy Lake is boatable but Highway 60 access is restricted. They are discussing limited two lane access to our area on 60 coming from the west and heading east. You will not get to Deerhurst and most likely not on Canal road. The Great Wall of Harper continues to rise over the landscape of Huntsville.....very....very...ugly! No reported U Boat submarine sightings on Fairy Lake this week but we do have a unconfirmed sighting of Air Force Two in Gravenhurst. Green helicopters all over Deerhurst yesterday afternoon and although I did not see it an F18. Can't wait....till its over. By the way...the G8 was not going to cost the Town of Huntsville anything....we are now at 10 Million and counting...more property taxes anyone. Why do they always say it not going to cost the taxpayer anything and then...ooops. The photo should be nice at least! I must leave as the RCMP is staring at me..at least they like my desk.

Good morning from Huntsville Marine. Saturday is starting off with some light rain which is the real first rain we have had here in weeks. We really do need the rain as the dust level here at the marina is as bad as I have seen it. On a not so positive note the first black flies have arrived...no real mosquitoes yet. The flies are very early maybe this will be better and they will be through their cycle early. If it stays dry they should be basically over by the long weekend.

Immediately to the left is the new Huntsville Marine hat. The logo is on the back. Notice the specially designed nose protection so that we do not have to put that silly looking white cream on our noses and the edges of our ears to protect them form the sun. This is actually a 100 year old football helmet from the NFL Hall of Fame.

This week at the marina we completed and graded the parking area "C". We look forward to starting the refacing of the gas pump docks this week and should have this completed by the long weekend. We have now officially opened the gas pumps for the season as well. Waterfront staff is in place for the season. My son Shayne will be with us for the month of May until he starts his new career in the USA.

The winner this week of the longest new boat delivery is a Triumph 150CC to the Peterborough area. We also have our first new 195 Stingray going to 10 Mile Bay on Lake of Bays.
